CAMARA / Aduna Network APIs for mobile operators — implemented for Deutsche Telekom in Slovakia and Czech Republic

instarea implements the operator-side (NatCo) integration layer that makes CAMARA Network APIs — Number Verification, SIM Swap and KYC Match — work on a mobile operator's own network and expose them through the Aduna global network-API aggregator. Implemented for the Deutsche Telekom group in Slovakia (Slovak Telekom) and the Czech Republic (T-Mobile Czech Republic). Technically operational in Slovakia and the Czech Republic from December 2026; the commercial launch and its announcement are subject to the decision of each of the two operators (Slovak Telekom, T-Mobile Czech Republic). Delivered locally for the Slovak and Czech operator teams and legal entities (Slovak Telekom, T-Mobile Czech Republic) as part of a Deutsche Telekom group programme that DT coordinates and actively participates in. Built as an extension of the instarea ServiceHub (Technical Service Hub) platform and ready to roll out to further operators and countries.

What it is. CAMARA is the open-source Network API standard of the Linux Foundation and GSMA Open Gateway. Aduna is the global aggregator through which operators — including the Deutsche Telekom group — sell these APIs to developers and enterprises. To make a CAMARA API answer from a specific country, each operator (NatCo) needs an integration layer that connects the group's exposure platform to its own network and subscriber systems. instarea built exactly this layer for Slovak Telekom and T-Mobile Czech Republic, on its ServiceHub platform.

Why instarea. Operator-grade platforms in production at Slovak Telekom, T-Mobile CZ, Orange, O2 and STC since 2014, and a GDPR engine for subscriber data running 8+ years without a privacy incident. We now offer the same CAMARA / Aduna NatCo integration to other operators and countries.

Key Features

Number Verification

CAMARA

CAMARA Number Verification confirms, directly from the mobile network, that the phone number a user claims is the SIM actually used on the device — silent, OTP-less authentication without SMS codes.

SIM Swap

CAMARA

CAMARA SIM Swap tells a bank or service provider whether — and when — the SIM card behind a phone number was recently changed. A key signal against account takeover and SIM-swap fraud before high-risk transactions.

KYC Match

CAMARA

CAMARA KYC Match compares customer-supplied identity attributes with the operator's verified subscriber data and returns match / no-match results — without disclosing the underlying personal data. Implemented for Slovakia.

Aduna & group exposure ready

The operator-side integration layer (southbound resolvers) plugs into the operator group's CAMARA exposure platform, so the APIs are sold to developers and enterprises through Aduna — one global contract, many operator networks.

Security & privacy by design

Mutual TLS between platforms, OAuth 2.0 scopes per API, rate limiting, standardised RFC 7807 errors and end-to-end correlation IDs. GDPR support per API (DPIA input, legal-basis mapping) before go-live.

Repeatable per operator & country

Built once, deployed per market: the Czech rollout reused the Slovak foundation and runs as a dedicated, commercially and technically independent instance. The same pattern is ready for further operators and countries.

Use Cases

Banking & payments fraud prevention

Banks check SIM Swap before approving transfers or adding a new device, stopping SIM-swap account takeover in real time.

Passwordless & OTP-less login

Apps replace SMS one-time passwords with network-based Number Verification — faster sign-in, lower SMS cost, no OTP interception.

Digital onboarding & KYC

Fintechs, insurers and e-commerce verify customer identity attributes against operator data with KYC Match during onboarding.

Insurance

Insurers verify the policyholder's phone number and identity attributes at online onboarding (Number Verification, KYC Match) and check SIM Swap before payouts or contact-detail changes to stop claims and account fraud.

Government & public sector

E-government portals and public agencies can add a network-based check of the citizen's phone number to logins and recovery flows, and detect recent SIM swaps before sensitive changes — strengthening digital identity without SMS codes.

Retail & e-commerce

Retailers and marketplaces verify phone numbers at sign-up and checkout, block account takeover of loyalty accounts after SIM swaps and speed up customer onboarding — with less friction than SMS one-time passwords.
